How to Book an Appointment

Call the provider’s office and ask to schedule an appointment. You want to tell them what you want an appointment for (e.g. annual physical, birth control), so they can schedule the right amount of time for your appointment. The staff member will look up available times and ask what works for you. Ask what you should bring with you to the appointment if they don’t tell you.

  • Example, “Hi, my name is (your name), I’m a new patient. I was wondering if I could schedule an appointment with (specific provider you would like to see, or any provider who is available) . I want to come in because (tell them about your reason for wanting an appointment). I’m available anytime after 3pm on weekdays. Do you have anything available? ...Is there anything I need to bring with me to the appointment?”
  • PRO TIP: Put your appointment in your phone’s calendar and set reminders so you don’t forget. If you don’t want people to see that you’re going to the doctor, you can even use a codeword that only you know.
